In order to promote the coordinated development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, on July 8, a delegation of foreign consular officials and business leaders based in Hong Kong SAR began a research tour of Hainan in Haikou, the provincial capital. The tour was organized by the Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong.

On the first day of the tour, the delegation visited the Zhejiang Geely Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group and Huayan Collagen Technology Company in order to learn more about Hainan’s new energy and biotechnology sectors, gaining insight into Hainan’s development achievements and seeking opportunities for collaboration. That evening, the Haikou International Investment Promotion Bureau gave an introduction to the local development situation and cooperation opportunities.

During the 5-day tour, the 62 delegates, which include foreign consuls general based in Hong Kong SAR or their representatives as well as representatives from chambers of commerce, corporations, and media outlets hailing from 21 countries including the UK, Canada, and Germany will visit major Hainan industrial parks and companies. The focus of the tour is to conduct exchanges with and research into the Hainan FTP’s three future-oriented ‘land, sea, and air’ industries as well as the island province’s four leading industries, the tourism, modern service, high-tech, and tropical high-efficiency agriculture industries, with the goal of furthering understanding of the development achievements and cooperation opportunities of the free trade port.
A representative of the Hainan Province Foreign Affairs Office said that the visit of these foreign consular officials and business leaders based in Hong Kong SAR will promote the high-quality development and opening up of Hainan as well as the coordinated development of Hainan and Hong Kong SAR.
